Thiago in, Costa out for Spain

Thiago Alcantara leads a number of new faces in the Spain squad for upcoming matches against Luxembourg and Ukraine, but Diego Costa is dropped.

The Chelsea striker's struggles in front of goal for club and country this season have been compounded by an international ban of one game for an accumulation of yellow cards, meaning recalls for Juventus' Alvaro Morata and Celta Vigo hotshot Nolito.

Thiago is also in line to make his first international appearance since March 2014 after bouncing back from a serious knee injury with Bayern Munich.

Other new faces include Real Sociedad defender Inigo Martinez and Villarreal captain Bruno Soriano, but Aritz Aduriz continues to be overlooked, despite his 11 goals for Athletic Bilbao.

La Roja host Group C strugglers Luxembourg in Euro 2016 qualifying next Friday, before travelling to Ukraine the following Monday.

Spain squad in full: Casillas, De Gea, Rico; Carvajal, Pique, Ramos, Alba, Juanfran, Bartra, Inigo Martinez, Azpilicueta; Busquets, Bruno, Cesc, Isco, Cazorla, Thiago, Mata, Silva; Morata, Pedro, Alcacer, Nolito
