‘Madrid don’t know about Malmo’

Malmo Coach Age Hareide has suggested Real Madrid don’t know about his side and that could work in their favour in their Champions League encounter.

The teams meet in Sweden on Wednesday and Marca reports Hareide telling local publication Sydsvenskan that Malmo may have the element of surprise.

“They know nothing about us and it’s difficult to change that,” he is quoted as saying.

“They have three points and they’re only human. It’s hard playing against Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu but the fans there are far away.

“They’re very close in Malmo and that will surprise Madrid.”

Hareide also backed one of his players, Anton Tinnerholm, to be able to handle Cristiano Ronaldo, and praised Karim Benzema.

“[Tinnerholm] is perfect for the mission of marking Ronaldo. He won’t be afraid at all. I promise we’ll be all over him,” the trainer continued.

“Benzema is one of the five best strikers in the world. He’s a player who doesn’t get the recognition he deserves but he’s very good in space and with his back to goal. It will take a collective effort to stop him.”
