Aspas: Celta win entirely fair

Iago Aspas admitted Celta Vigo were always wary of a Barcelona comeback but delighted in the win over the Champions League holders.

Aspas scored twice with Nolito and John Guidetti also on the score sheet in a 4-1 win, Neymar netting for the visitors.

“We have overrun Barcelona. We played a great match, we were the better team throughout and the victory is entirely fair,” Aspas said after the final whistle, AS reports.

“Our team was coming off a big game at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan and against the champions of Europe we have returned to play very well.

“Against Barca you are never calm until the end of the game because you never know what can happen. But the effort we put in was tremendous.

“We pressed high with very intense pressure and that has allowed us to steal the ball and make these fast counter-attacks.

“The goals will give me confidence. Here I am with my dear people. This is what I wanted when I decided to return to Celta.

“Yes, we have enthusiasm but the priority remains to reach 40 or 42 points to avoid relegation as soon as possible.

“Once we reach that figure we’ll dream of a higher level.”
