Barca in Club World Cup draw

Barcelona are closer to learning their opponents for their first match in the 2015 FIFA Club World Cup, to be held in Japan in December.

The Catalans qualified as winners of the Champions Leaue and will face the winners of the match between Club America and the Asian Champions League winner.

The Asian Champions League final will be held on November 21 and the four semi-finalists are Guangzhou Evergrande, Gamba Osaka, Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli.

Barca enter in the semi-finals, as do River Plate, Copa Libertadores winners, both seeded for the tournament.

There will be a play-off to help determine River Plate’s opponents as Oceania’s Auckland City play the host nation’s as-yet-undetermined representatives.

The winners of that match then face the winners of the African Champions League, who then go on to meet River Plate.

The African Champions League final will be held on November 8 and the four semi-finalists are USM Alger, TP Mazembe, Al-Hilal and Al-Merrikh.

The final takes place on December 20 in Yokohama. Real Madrid are the current holders, while Barca have twice won the trophy.
