Former Real Madrid midfielder Guti has slammed the Spain fans behind the boos directed at Gerard Pique.
The defender suffered more backlash for his negative remarks about Real Madrid during La Roja's 2-0 victory over Slovakia in Euro 2016 qualifying on Saturday, but his former Clasico rival has urged the guilty parties to reconsider their actions.
“It's never nice when a player is booed, especially when he's representing his country,” he was quoted as saying by Marca.
“Any player can be criticised away from the pitch, but booing them during a game isn't good, above all for things which are totally unrelated to football.
“I'm on the side of the players who have said 'no' to booing and I hope Spanish fans don't boo [Pique] again.”
