Joan Verdu is excited to get the chance to play in Serie A for Fiorentina after he was unveiled by the Viola.
Verdu had been plying his trade in Abu Dhabi with Baniyas but has returned to Europe, Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade confirming Verdu was a target dating back to Eduardo Macia’s time at the club.
“I’m convinced he’ll do well and surprise everyone,” Prade is quoted as saying by Estadio Deportivo.
“I come from a faraway country but I’ve played in Spain for big teams like Deportivo La Coruna, Espanyol and Real Betis,” Verdu added.
“I’ve always been good from a physical point of view. I’m fine now. I’m ready. My goal? Personal goals are always the same as the team.
“For me, Fiorentina is a great opportunity. I’ll try to take it. I’m in a team that wants to win. I’m from a different League but I feel ready to help the team.
“I took No 21 because it was the number of my friend Dani Jarque. It seemed right to take it, to honour him.”
