Yarmolenko ‘still wants Barca’

Andriy Yarmolenko turned down Everton because he still hopes to play for Barcelona, who asked the Dynamo Kiev forward to wait for them.

Sport reports a €25m offer from the Toffees was accepted by Dynamo but it was Yarmolenko who said no as his dream is Barca.

Barca are keen on the Ukraine international but decided against making their move this summer, instead preferring to wait until their finances are a little healthier.

The winter window has been suggested and Barca would then be able to register Yarmolenko immediately, whereas if he moved in the summer he would, like Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal, have to wait until the transfer embargo is lifted.

Barca’s offer to Dynamo amounted to €20m in three instalments but the approach was never official with the Ukrainians.

If Yarmolenko does move to Camp Nou in January he will be cup-tied for the Champions League.

Nolito remains on Barca’s agenda as another option and Sport cites a report from ESPN that says his Celta Vigo contract contains a clause that lowers his price if the Catalans make a bid, but it only applies to Barca.

The fee would drop from the €30m called for by Nolito’s new contract to between €12m and €15m.
