Koke believes Atletico Madrid have put together their best squad in years but insists the goal remains finishing third at the end of the season.
The midfielder will play his 150th Atletico game this weekend when visiting Sevilla and has offered his thoughts on Diego Simeone’s options.
“We’ve got a great squad. We’ve strengthened well. I think we have one of the best squads of recent times and now we only have to work,” he said, Marca reports.
“The good thing is the variations we have. We can pass the ball more or have people who work hard.
“Our League is Sevilla, Valencia and Villarreal and we have to as a minimum get third. That’s our objective. We all want to be champions but first we try to be third and whatever else comes will be welcome.”
Atletico began the League with a win at newly-promoted Las Palmas and Koke added that the victory at Estadio Gran Canaria should not be taken lightly.
“It was important to start with a win, because it’s not easy,” he continued.
“We saw there were very few goals throughout the round. Everybody wants to fight, to score in the first game.”
