Fiorentina President Andrea Della Valle has made it clear that Joaquin will not be returning to Real Betis during the summer transfer window.
Betis Coach Pepe Mel appeared to suggest on Sunday that it was only a matter of time before the veteran winger would be heading back to Andalucia, but the Viola President has since played down the claims, insisting the player remains “at the centrepiece of our project”.
“Joaquin? He's a key part of our project and the Coach believes in him,” he told Firenzeviola.it.
“I spoke to Joaquin and he said he wanted to return to Spain, but he knows he can only do so in the future. I hope he's understood that.
“He wants to go home, but now is not the time because he's at the centrepiece of our project.
“The player isn't on the market, neither is any other player of ours.”
