‘Kovacic is young but experienced’

Real Madrid President Florentino Perez has welcomed Mateo Kovacic to the club after the midfielder was presented at Santiago Bernabeu.

Kovacic cost Madrid a reported €30m and Perez explained why Los Blancos pursued the Inter starlet.

“Mateo, you arrive at the world’s most prestigious team at only 21. This is a new stage for you and it’s exciting,” he said, AS reports, as he introduced the new boy.

“This is the team of 10 European Cups. Playing here is a privilege, but also a responsibility. We’re sure you will help us to be better. Welcome to your new home.

“There’s no doubt we have a great squad to deal with our ambitions this season. But everyone knows we don’t stand still, it’s one of the traits of our identity.

“Real Madrid does not rest in finding talented players to play in the defence of our crest.

“He is a young player but experienced. He’s very talented and comes from Inter, our friends.”
