Vargas ‘excited’ to join Betis

Juan Manuel Vargas has expressed his delight at joining Real Betis from Fiorentina. “I’m very happy and excited about this new adventure.”

The Peru international has joined the La Liga new boys on a free transfer, signing a two-year contract, and becomes the second player after Cristiano Piccini to swap the Serie A side for Benito Vilamarin.

“I’m very happy about this new experience in my career,” he told Betis’ official website.

“I’m very calm and excited about giving everything. I only hope do things right and give Betis my very best.

“I have always given my best throughout my career in Italy and want to show [my best] at Betis.

“I want to offer [Betis] my experience, which allowed me to enjoy success in Italy.

“I come here with the intention of earning a [first-team] place, working with humility and doing my best.

“[Betis] are a club with a long history. I played against Betis with Fiorentina last year.

“I think that Real Betis have very good fans, who are very close to the team.

“I hope to win the trust of all my teammates and fans who come to support us.

“[On the Peruvians in Betis welcoming him at a local train station], it was very cute of them and I hope they join me at my presentation [on Friday].

“I’m very happy and excited about this new adventure.”
