Halilovic to join Sporting?

Alen Halilovic will leave Barcelona this summer, with Sporting Gijon emerging as his likeliest destination, according to Sport.

The Croatian attacker only arrived from Dinamo Zagreb last summer, but Barca B’s relegation to the third tier, coupled with the first team being finalised for 2015-16, means he will have to look for a new club in order to continue his development.

Consequently, the Catalan publication believes Barca will reject advances from the Premier League, namely Everton and West Ham United as they feel another La Liga club would prove more beneficial.

Sporting gained automatic promotion to the top flight last season via a runners-up finish in La Segunda, while their Coach is former Barca defender Abelardo Fernandez.

“Of course I want Halilovic. We’re interested in many players, but we don’t even have €1m to spend,” he told Cadena SER.

“He’s an interesting player, who is very good at bringing the ball forward and many other things.”
