Griezmann focused on Las Palmas

Antoine Griezmann was pleased to score twice in Atletico Madrid’s 3-0 win over Shanghai SIPG but mostly because of what it means for the new season.

Atleti face Las Palmas in the opening round in a matter of weeks and end their Asia tour with a convincing win over Sven-Goran Eriksson’s side, Fernando Torres getting the other goal.

“I’m happy for the two goals and the match the team had. We pressed, we’re intent on pressing, we scored three goals and we’re content as we go back to Madrid,” Griezmann said, AS reports.

“It’s always good to score. There are new faces in the team, new players, and we all want to be prepared for Las Palmas.

“Attackers need a final pass and we know that Koke, Oliver, even Vietto, can play that pass. The more players who are fit, the better for the team.

“It was important to give a good image of the club on the tour and it’s good that we’ve done that.”
