Official: Madrid sign Abad

Real Madrid have completed the signing of goalkeeper Carlos Abad-Hernandez from Tenerife on an initial two-year loan.

The 20-year-old had only put pen to paper on a new, five-year contract with Tenerife last week but will now spend the next two seasons with Madrid Castilla after passing a medical on Thursday.

AS also claims Los Blancos can purchase the player at the end of 2015-16 for €2m or 2016-17 for €3m.

“I’ve fulfilled a life-long dream,” Abad was quoted as saying by AS.

“I’m convinced that I’ll end up in the first team.”

Abad, who has been compared to Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois in the past, is likely to make his Castilla debut against Gimnastica Segoviana on Sunday.
