Jonathas: La Real a great honour

Jonathas has described his move to Real Sociedad as ‘a great honour’ and thanked the fans for their passionate welcome.

AS report 500 supporters were present as Jonathas was presented by La Real following his departure from Elche.

La Real President Jokin Aperribay confirmed an agreement with Jonathas’ parent club, Brazilian side Maga, the Basques paying €7m for Jonathas to sign a five-year deal at Anoeta.

“It’s a great honour for me to join these fans, who are magnificent, and it doesn’t add any pressure. It’s good for a player to have this support. It’s a privilege,” Jonathas said.

“I want to thank the club for everything they’ve done. I came here because they wanted me 100%. La Real presented an exciting project and offered a lot to me and my family.

“I came here because of the club’s great ambitions. With the great players here I’m sure we can fight for the Champions League.

“I hate to set a goal target. I like to work hard, and if I work well during the week and through the season I’m sure my numbers will improve. I’ll work every day.

“I wish all the luck to the people of Elche but now I’m here and I want to turn the page and focus on La Real, and give everything to La Real.”
