‘Perez has enslaved Madrid’

Florentino Perez has “enslaved” Real Madrid by revoking the power of their members, according to the agent of Iker Casillas.

In the third part of his candid interview with AS on Sunday, Santos Marquez slammed the President for deliberately booting out the squad’s most vocal characters and accused him of changing the club statutes to ensure he remained in power for as long as possible.

“Anyone who joins Madrid is the voice of his master. Since his second term, it’s all been the voice of their master,” he continued.

“There’s a before and after in Florentino’s reigns. In 2000 he handed the advisory reins to [Jorge] Valdano, who knew football.

“They made things right together. When he resigned in 2006, he said it was because he couldn’t control the dressing room.

“In 2009, he returned and went straight to the dressing room. That’s the problem. He doesn’t like players to command the dressing room.

“Madrid are much bigger and important than Florentino Perez. He’s thought to be the god of Madrid, but people have to realise that this man is a walking convulsion.

“He hasn’t spoken the truth in years. His version of the truth is to preach, but people have to realise that he kicked out his best people.

“It all went wrong with [Fernando] Hierro, Raul [Gonzalez] and [Vicente] del Bosque … Something always happens.

“Madrid were once characterised by their members and he’s enslaved them. He changed the statutes to perpetuate [his presidency].

“The President has assembled slaves because they can’t act as members. They can only shut up and pay up.”
