Neville ‘still talking’ to Valencia

Phil Neville has not yet been appointed Valencia’s assistant Coach, despite the club announcing otherwise on Sunday.

Los Che appeared to confirm the arrival of the former Manchester United defender as Nuno Santo’s No 2 on their official website, but BBC Sport claims the statement was premature.

Neville was considered a surprise choice for the role, given his lack of coaching experience, but links with Valencia owner Peter Lim have since surfaced.

The Singaporean businessman bought a 50 percent stake in non-League club Salford City, co-owned by Neville, his ex-United teammates Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and brother Gary, last year.

The 59-time England international’s only major role came in 2013-14, when he worked under current Real Sociedad boss David Moyes at Old Trafford.
