Fernando Roig has confirmed that Atletico Madrid striker Leo Baptistao will join Villarreal, with Luciano Vietto’s €20m move the other way also complete.
Baptistao, 22, spent last season at Rayo Vallecano, scoring seven goals in La Liga, and will now lead the Yellow Submarine’s line alongside Gerard Moreno and Giovani dos Santos.
“[Baptistao is joining on loan] with a purchase option,” the President said at a presentation for season tickets.
“He’s an interesting player, whom we believe can give a great performance here.”
Roig also revealed that talks with Red Bull Salzburg winger Massimo Bruno were under way.
“We’re working hard to make [Bruno’s] arrival happen,” he added.
“The player came over to learn about the club and we hope to close the deal soon.”
As for outgoings, Roig confirmed Javier Aquino was negotiating a return to Mexico with Tigres, the club who recently signed Ikechukwu Uche.
