Vicente Del Bosque declined to comment on rumours linking Spain captain Iker Casillas with a move away from Real Madrid.
It was on Wednesday reported that Casillas was ready to quit Santiago Bernabeu in order to make way for David De Gea, whose arrival from Manchester United is said to be imminent.
Del Bosque was asked about the skipper’s situation but chose to stay out the fray until Casillas’ future is settled one way or another.
“I have no comment. Casillas is to all effects a Madrid player. It’s a rumour and when it’s confirmed I’ll give an opinion. But not now,” he replied, AS reports.
“We know we’re in a time of extremes and anything with a great like Iker normally has a lot of impact. Especially when he’s had the ups and downs of the club he plays for and it’s going to cause a lot of discussion.
“One goalkeeper will play [against Costa Rica] and another will play on Sunday [against Belarus].
“When news about Casillas is confirmed, then I’ll comment. For now it’s just a hoax or a rumour.”
