Celta Vigo captain Augusto Fernandez has signed a new contract with the club and expressed his happiness at extending his stay.
Marca report the midfielder has put pen-to-paper on a four-year deal and explained the reasons for his happiness to remain in Galicia.
“I feel very good at the club and in the city, like my family, and that made everything go quicker,” said Fernandez.
“I’ve signed for four years and hopefully they will be as good as the last three [since joining Celta].
“It seems incredible that it has been three years already. It shows that things have gone well. I have taken to the club and the club has taken to me.
“I like being ambitious and I see the club is being ambitious too. It’s been slow but sure steps for the team in the Primera.
“If the club has the mentality to keep the base of this year and aim for good reinforcements then we can fight higher than we have done so far.”
