Valencia left-back and reported Real Madrid target Jose Luis Gaya has revealed that talks to renew his contract “are well under way”.
The 19-year-old’s deal does not expire until 2018, but Los Che are keen to ward off interest from potential suitors by improving his terms and raising his buyout threshold, which reportedly stands at €18m.
“[Talks over] my renewal are well underway,” he told reporters on Friday.
“Things are going very well and only small details are missing. [Valencia are] my team.”
CEO Amadeo Salvo endorsed Gaya’s extension, adding: “Everything’s going well. Gaya will be Valencia’s captain in the next few years.”
