Atletico Madrid have decided to offer striker Antoine Griezmann an improved contract, according to Cadena SER.
Griezmann joined Atleti from Real Sociedad last summer for €30m – the release clause in his contract at Anoeta – and signed a six-year deal until June 2020.
However, Griezmann has had a host of Europe’s top clubs casting glances his way after an outstanding season, in which the 24-year-old has scored 23 goals in all competitions.
As a result, Atleti now want to offer him an increased salary whilst at the same time raising his buyout clause to €70m in order to fend off any interested clubs, one of whom is rumoured to be Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.
This would bring Griezmann’s earnings into line with some of the highest-paid members of Diego Simeone’s squad.
