Season over for Modric?

Luka Modric’s season may be over after the Real Madrid midfielder reportedly picked up a knee injury against Malaga on Saturday.

The Croatia international, who only returned from a long layoff little over a month ago, came off worse for wear from a 50-50 with Recio on the hour mark at the Santiago Bernabeu and had to be substituted.

Although Madrid have yet to confirm the extent of Modric’s setback, AS claims the 29-year-old suffered a ligament strain in his right knee and will miss at least the next five weeks if this is proven to be the case.

Modric now looks likely to miss the rest of the season, barring a potential Champions League final, and could be joined on the sidelines by Gareth Bale, who left the pitch after just four minutes with a suspected calf injury.

Madrid went on to beat Malaga 3-1, with goals from Sergio Ramos, James Rodriguez and Cristiano Ronaldo sealing the win.
