Atletico Madrid have reportedly won the race to sign Anderlecht wonderkid Youri Tielemans this summer.
According to AS, the Spanish champions have sounded out Tielemans and Malaga captain Ignacio Camacho as their main midfield targets and have made “definite progress” on the 17-year-old.
Representatives from Atleti are believed to have met up with their Anderlecht counterparts on Tuesday, when the basis of an agreement was successfully negotiated.
The Belgian starlet, whose contract expires at the end of next season, is also understood to have turned down a new five-year deal in order to speak with Los Colchoneros.
Despite his tender years, Tielemans has already made 76 appearances for Anderlecht and possesses extensive Champions League experience.
Deemed Europe’s best midfielder in his age group, the teenager also reportedly garnered the interest of numerous English heavyweights, including Premier League leaders Chelsea.
In other news, the newspaper claims that Atleti may consider making an audacious bid for Bayern Munich talisman Bastian Schweinsteiger.
