Rayo Vallecano goalkeeper Cristian Alvarez believes his team are capable of causing an upset against Real Madrid on Wednesday.
Los Franjirrojos have been in good form of late and the Argentine stopper told the club’s official website he is hoping it continues against Carlo Ancelotti’s men at the Campo de Futbol de Vallecas.
“The game against Madrid is not just any La Liga fixture. It’s massive because of their financial muscle and the media attention they attract,” said the 29-year-old, who is on loan at Rayo from San Lorenzo.
“We are preparing for this game as calmly as any other and are looking forward to it. We’re excited at the possibility of beating them at home in front of our home fans and I’m convinced we can win it for them.
“We know Madrid have outstanding players and a wealth of talent but we’ll be facing them as equals. We mustn’t feel inferior to anybody,” he warned.
