Arbeloa aims for Madrid clean sweep

Alvaro Arbeloa claims Real Madrid are targeting winning all of their remaining nine League games, although he accepts it will not be easy.

The Real Madrid defender saw Los Blancos overwhelm a poor Granada 9-1 on Sunday and says Carlo Ancelotti’s men are going to do everything in their power to try and catch leaders Barcelona.

“We are hoping to win all our games from now until the end of the season. That’s what we want to do but I know it’s going to be hard.

“However, Barcelona have tougher fixtures than us and history shows you sometimes drop points when you least expect it.

“We’ve now got two games before we take on Atletico Madrid in the Champions League and we want to go there in good form, so we have to beat Rayo Vallecano and Eibar.

“This 9-1 win has helped us to focus, which is as important as being physically fit, and we are going to need everyone over the next six weeks.

“Scoring nine isn’t easy and we put in a great performance. These games are always tough after the international break.

“We did a great job and I can’t remember the last time Real Madrid scored nine goals,” he affirmed.
