Suarez: ‘Barca bought me to score’

Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has acknowledged that the reason he was brought to the club was purely to score goals.

The Uruguayan spoke to RAC1 about his match-winning strike in El Clasico against Real Madrid on Sunday.

“I was brought into Barcelona to get goals and I use [Lionel] Messi’s and Neymar’s movement and they use mine.

“The goal against Madrid has an added meaning because of who the opposition were, because of the situation and because it reinforces our position at the top of La Liga,” maintained the former Liverpool man, who was quick to praise Messi.

“You really don’t need much time to discover his quality. The understanding with him has been very easy.”

The 28-year-old did admit, however, that he tired towards the end of the Madrid match, before saying he is looking forward to the Champions League.

“At the end of the game I made some schoolboy errors because I felt very tired, but luckily it didn’t matter.

“We are aware we now need to beat the best teams to win the Champions League, starting with Paris Saint-Germain.”
