Khedira hints at Madrid exit

Sami Khedira has fuelled speculation linking him with a summer departure from Real Madrid by admitting “I’m open to many teams.”

The Germany international is out of contract at the end of the season, and with neither a renewal forthcoming, nor an extended run in Los Blancos’ XI on the horizon, the midfielder all-but-confirmed he would be plying his trade elsewhere next term.

“Am I open to [joining] Schalke? I’m open to many teams,” he said after Madrid’s 4-3 defeat to Schalke in the Champions League last 16 on Tuesday.

Khedira played the first hour of the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu and covered just 7.5km of ground, before being replaced by Luka Modric.

The World Cup winner, who has been at Madrid since leaving Stuttgart in 2010, had also been linked with the Royal Blues prior to the match.
