Barcelona striker Luis Suarez declared himself ‘happy’ to have scored and helped his team into the Copa del Rey final on Wednesday.
The Uruguayan notched Barca’s second goal in the 3-1 second-leg victory at Villarreal,
“As a striker you are always happy to score goals and help your team whatever the competition you are playing in,” he told Sport.
“This time it was the Copa del Rey and I’m happy to be going to the final. A final is a final whoever the opposition is.”
Suarez was delighted to have avoided a yellow card in the game, alongside teammate Javier Mascherano, as both would have missed the final if they had received a caution.
“As a footballer you always play to the limit and can easily get a card. Sometimes things happen on the pitch that can cost you dearly and make you miss a match.
“It could have happened to Javier and me but we eventually got through the match,” he explained.
