Valencia President Amadeo Salvo has asserted that Jose Luis Gaya is not for sale, amid speculation linking the left-back with a move to Real Madrid.
Reports in the Spanish Press suggested on Friday that Los Che were to renew the 19-year-old’s contract with a €40m release clause, which the capital giants were ready to meet at the end of the season.
However, Salvo revealed he had already spoken with Florentino Perez over a possible transfer and received assurances from his Madrid counterpart that Los Blancos were not interested in the starlet.
"I spoke with Florentino [Perez] and he told me he didn’t want [Jose Luis] Gaya. Gaya is not for sale to Real Madrid or anyone else,” he told Cadena COPE.
“We want Gaya to stay here for many years. If one day he doesn’t want to be here, he can tell us and we’d understand [his wishes].”
