Casillas lauds Madrid ‘attitude’

Iker Casillas praised Real Madrid’s ‘attitude’ following their 2-0 victory over Elche in La Liga on Sunday.

Goals from Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo secured all three points for Los Blancos, who reopened a four-point lead at the League summit after Barcelona’s home defeat to Malaga a day earlier.

“Football can change in two weeks. Before we received a barrage of criticism and now things are quiet,” the goalkeeper told reporters.

“We know we’re at Real Madrid. The reviews [of our performances] are sometimes good, sometimes bad, but we haven’t suffered from the [derby] defeat at the Vicente Calderon.

“We are where we want to be. We’ve always had [a good] attitude. It’s normal to have ups and downs [during the season].

“It’s very easy during the good times, but you must be more united during the bad times, like we have done.

“For our part I hope we don’t [rely on other teams]. Next up we have to Villarreal, let's go step by step.

“The potential advantage of these next few weeks is that although we were unfortunately knocked out of the Copa del Rey, we won’t have [extra] midweek matches.”
