Atletico Madrid have been dealt a blow with the news that Koke will be out for up to a month due to a hamstring injury.

The midfielder requested to be replaced just nine minutes into Los Colchoneros’ 4-0 victory over Real Madrid in the capital derby on Saturday.

After undergoing tests on Friday, the club have now confirmed that the 23-year-old will spend an extended period on the treatment table.

“Koke underwent some tests this afternoon in the FREMAP Majadahonda hospital after coming off injured during the first minutes of Saturday's derby,” read a statement on Atleti’s official website.

“The test results confirmed that the player suffered a second-degree hamstring injury on the back side of his left. The Spain international will [now] undergo physiotherapy treatment and is pending recovery.”

As a result of his knock, Koke is likely to miss matches against Celta Vigo, Almeria and Sevilla in La Liga, along with the Champions League tie against Bayer Leverkusen.
