Gerard Pique believes that right now Barcelona are brimming with confidence and says he is excited about the remainder of the season.
The Blaugrana central defender, speaking in Qatar at the presentation of the new Qatar Airways video advertisement, told of his optimism for the coming months.
“We’ve been in good shape in the last seven or eight games and our form is good in the League and Cup,” the Spain international is quoted as saying by Barca’s official website.
“We have won a lot of games and that generates expectation and confidence. Now the Champions League is round the corner and the fixture list is tough, but we are looking forward to it and I think we have the chance to do something big this season.
“Maintaining the same level of performance is what we must do, as well as keeping on getting the results. We must get through the semi-finals of the Cup and try to put pressure on [leaders] Real Madrid in La Liga so they drop points.”
Pique also gave his opinion on matters off the pitch at the Camp Nou, where there is a transfer ban in place until next January and President Josep Maria Bartomeu is facing a tax fraud probe
“I know that the more stable things are the better it is for everyone. We have a responsibility and are aware that if the team gets good results then it makes life easier.
“I know Barca really well and sometimes things get blown out of all proportion. We are a big club and the small things get magnified,” he explained.
