Casillas: Bad run behind Madrid

Iker Casillas insists Real Madrid have put their poor start to 2015 behind them after Sunday’s 3-0 victory at Getafe.

Los Blancos made it back-to-back wins in La Liga and were crowned Spanish winter champions courtesy of second-half goals from Cristiano Ronaldo (x2) and Gareth Bale, and the goalkeeper believes his side have silenced their critics.

“We have another match to prepare for against Sevilla. It was a good first half to the season,” he said after the game.

“We’re not tired, but we struggled to get back into our routine after a week away. We had some bad results, but that’s old news now. We must go game by game.

“The pitch wasn’t in good condition, but despite that we answered our critics. We didn’t give up.

“Unfortunately we lost in the Copa, which we were defending, but we can have no excuses. When we win, we’re more relaxed.

“Now we can better prepare for matches and train stronger. As Cristiano said, hopefully it’s a step back and two steps forward.”
