Fernando Torres was ‘happy for everything’ as his Atletico Madrid return ended in victory over Real Madrid.
Torres started the Copa del Rey tie and played around an hour after coming back to Atletico on a long-term loan from Milan.
“I’m happy, for many things. For the team’s result, the atmosphere we experienced, the fans, for everything,” he told Canal+, AS reports.
“Beating Madrid? It tastes good, like it always does when you beat one of the best teams in the world. It gives us a lot of possibilities but 2-0 at Santiago Bernabeu isn’t definitive. It’s a long 90 minutes there.
“We did a great job here. We controlled the game in almost all parts and you have to be on top for 90 minutes, because anything can happen.
“We knew their game would be about possession. We didn’t want to give them any clear chances. We knew how to pick our moments and we were more comfortable.”
