Fernandez: It was end-to-end

Victor Fernandez said the 4-1 Copa del Rey defeat at Malaga had been an end-to-end game before the hosts took control late on.

The Deportivo la Coruna boss saw his team crash out of the tournament 5-2 on aggregate but Fernandez felt it could have turned out differently if things had gone the right way.

“It was a back and forth match and we tried to win this tie after the result in the first leg,” he told a Press conference.

“There were two key moments in the game. The first was when they made it 2-1 after we had equalised and the other the chance we had from four metres out that [Guillermo] Ochoa saved, although it was all Malaga in the last 20 minutes.

“The result was overly excessive when you look at the tie overall and we were worthy competitors, except for those 20 minutes, and now we must focus all our efforts on the League,” he asserted.
