Madrid a “machine” claims Capello

Former Real Madrid boss Fabio Capello has labelled the current side a “machine” and the rest “just teams”.

Capello, now in charge of the Russian national team, believes Carlo Ancelotti’s men are playing at a level way beyond that shown by any other side in the world at the moment.

“The most important thing is keeping up what they have achieved since the start of the season,” the Italian told Onda Cero’s ‘Al Primer Toque’ programme.

“You could say that other teams are not at Madrid’s level. Real Madrid is a machine and the rest are just teams.

“Others have players of great quality but they are not the same machine Madrid is. They are from another planet.

“This year Carlo Ancelotti has done a fantastic job and he has the team believing they are the best.

“Madrid are desperate to win every game. They have everything. They defend well, have a great midfield and great talent in attack. They are possibly one of the best teams of all time.”

The 68-year-old, who was Coach at the Santiago Bernabeu from 1996-97 and 2006-2007, also commented on Barcelona this season, in particular Luis Suarez.

“A Coach will always know better than the rest and look for solutions to problems that arise and put players in the position he feels they are best suited to.

“But I’d argue that Luis Suarez is not suited to playing out wide. He’s a natural goalscorer who loses 50 per cent of his goalscoring potential on the wing.

“He needs to be in the middle. Suarez is one of the best strikers in the world and that’s why I feel Luis Enrique is looking for a solution to his tactical situation.

“I don’t see this Barcelona side with the same hunger to win the ball back or with the same quick passing game as previous Barca teams,” he explained.
