‘Penalty miss a turning point’

Iker Casillas admitted Almeria's penalty miss changed the dynamics of Real Madrid's 4-1 victory in Andalucia on Friday.

Los Blancos risked being pulled back to 2-2 when Marcelo brought down Fran Velez in the box, but Verza fluffed the resulting spot-kick, leading the goalkeeper to count his side's lucky stars after the game.

"If we had conceded a goal at 2-1 the game would have turned out differently, but we reacted afterwards," he told reporters.

"At half-time we talked about not being at our normal level, but we were dealt a bit of luck. You have to take these games as they come.

"We've reached a new competition and never won the Club World Cup before. Hopefully we can put the icing on the cake and make it a year of honours."
