Real Madrid President Florentino Perez is keen to tie young striker Jese Rodriguez to a new contract.
The 21-year-old returned to first team action in the 5-0 Copa del Rey defeat of Cornella on Tuesday after a 258-day lay-off through injury, coming on as a substitute and notching his side’s fifth goal.
As a result, Perez is looking to renew the player’s contract until June 2021 at a salary of €2m per season, which is set to increase progressively over the length of the agreement.
Jese’s existing arrangement expires in 2017 and he is seen as the jewel of Los Blancos’s youth academy, with the club deciding, even before he was injured, that he deserved more in terms of his status at the Santiago Bernabeu and what he represents to the younger players.
A €200m buy-out clause in his contract and his commitment to Madrid should prove enough to keep him in the Spanish capital until 2021, as was the case with Nacho who also recently penned a new deal.
