Florentino in Bernabeu name slip

Real Madrid President Florentino Perez accidentally revealed the possible name of the club’s stadium to a public figure, reports AS.

Perez made the gaffe in front of the ‘El Chiringuito de Neox’ cameras to Lucia Figar, the Community of Madrid’s Minister of Education and Sports, in a VIP box at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“We’ll put IPIC Bernabeu on it, or Cepsa Bernabeu…whatever they want,” confessed Perez, after a ceremony to celebrate an agreement between Real Madrid and Microsoft took place at the ground.

Last month Madrid presented an agreement with International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC), an Abu Dhabi-based organisation that will co-operate in the construction of the new Bernabeu.

IPIC is an investment fund owned by the Abu Dhabi government and under the arrangement will finance part of the stadium and also be allowed to name it.

The agreement is for five years and it is understood the club will receive €3m per year until they get the green light for the new Bernabeu, when it will increase to €20m.
