Simeone cautious ahead of Malmo clash

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone is exercising caution ahead of the Champions League clash with Malmo on Tuesday.

The Argentine saw his team thrash the Swedes 5-0 at the Vicente Calderon a fortnight ago but is expecting a much tighter game this time around.

“We know Malmo need the points and we are aware what they will be like on their own ground,” he told a pre-match Press conference.

“They will be more intense, more attack-minded, and they have some tall players. Therefore, we will need to be more attentive and respond in the best way possible.

“From what I’ve seen on television and in videos they are a team that almost always employs a 4-4-2 system at home, although I don’t think they will use that against us.

“Against Olympiacos they played that way then later changed to 3-5-2, so I expect them to play that formation.”

Whatever happens at the Swedbank Stadion – known as Malmo New Stadium in UEFA competitions for sponsorship reasons – Simeone believes the outcome of the group will not be decided until the last match.

“It’s so tight, so hard, and this group will be fought over right up to the final game.

“I don’t think anything will be settled in the next matches,” he maintained.
