French Federation backs Zidane

The French Football Federation (FFF) has thrown its support behind Zinedine Zidane following his three-month ban.

The Real Madrid legend was sanctioned by the Spanish Football Federation for coaching Los Blancos’ second string Castilla without possessing the necessary qualifications.

However, Marca reports that the French have sent their Spanish counterparts documentation showing Zidane is actively pursuing his coaching badges and have issued a statement.

“The FFF would like to reiterate its support for Zidane following the decision by the Spanish Committee to sanction him for not having the necessary coaching diploma,” it read, while FFF President Noel Le Graet also commented on the matter.

“The fact such an iconic player like Zidane, who has decided to follow the internationally accepted French Coach training system, is not able to carry out his duties as permitted by UEFA is damaging to European football.

“The three-month ban he received is punishment for his decision to follow the French training course to qualify as a Coach.

“UEFA regulations allow a Coach in training to practice his profession,” insisted Le Graet.
