Barca could appeal Laporta dismissal

Barcelona could appeal against the dismissal of the legal action against President Joan Laporta [pictured] and 16 of his fellow ex-directors.

Another former President Sandro Rosell claimed his predecessor had generated losses when the club was under his control and was seeking €47.6m in way of reparation.

However, Judge Jose Martinez Borreguero found in favour of Laporta and his board members, absolving them of the €2.86m each would need to pay.

A report in AS states that when Rosell took the reins at Barca his accountants examined the books and issued restated accounts, converting a reported €11.1m profit in Laporta’s final year in charge into a €79.6m loss.

As a result Rosell took action after consulting with other club members to pursue Laporta for the money.

The current board at Camp Nou, led by Josep Maria Bartomeu who took over when Rosell resigned in view of the Neymar signing case, now have 20 days to appeal the decision.
