Simeone wants Atleti intensity

Diego Simeone believes Atletico Madrid need to have plenty of intensity to see off a dangerous Espanyol side.

The champions hosts Sergio’s side in Sunday’s early kick-off and at his pre-match Press conference, Cholo was asked if he is worried about the fixture in light of having 13 players on international duty.

“We’re not going into the game with concern. We want to go into it in the best way possible based on its importance and the needs of the team,” he replied, AS reports.

“Espanyol are doing well. They haven’t conceded many goals and they have a lot of intensity. We expect a tough game.

“With Caicedo, Montanes, Lucas, Sergio…they can hurt is in the spaces with their pace.

“Hopefully we won’t repeat mistakes from before. But when you play a lot of games in a row, you don’t think of physical exhaustion but mental instead. It’s not easy to concentrate.

“Intensity is always what we ask for. We base everything on concentration and teamwork. We’re hard to beat when we play like that and that’s the team I hope to see.”
