Garcia waiting on injury news

Espanyol forward Sergio Garcia expects to discover tomorrow the extent of the injury that forced him off in the defeat to Atletico Madrid.

Garcia told reporters following the 2-0 reverse that he left the field more as a precaution than anything else, but will no more in due course.

“In the last action of the first half I felt some pain,” he said, AS reports.

“I tried to play on but I couldn’t. It was best to leave because it was annoying and every time, it hurt more.

“Tomorrow will reveal the real extent of the injury.”

Garcia also lamented a missed opportunity for Lucas Vazquez when Atletico held only a one-goal lead, and questioned the suggestion Atleti were the better team.

“If that goal had gone in it would have changed the game,” Garcia contended.

“It didn’t happen and that’s that. We could have made it 1-1 but it wasn’t to be.

“Atletico were better at set-pieces and had chances but I think we had great intensity and desire. We just couldn’t get the goal.”
