Mou was good for Madrid says Casillas

Iker Casillas claims Jose Mourinho’s time in charge at Real Madrid was good for the club, although the pair did not see eye-to-eye.

In an exclusive interview with journalist Inaki Gabilondo, the 33-year-old said that despite their differences the relationship was always professional, particularly after the Portuguese dropped him in favour of Antonio Adan and Diego Lopez.

“Maybe I should have spoken out then but I opted for silence. Many have criticised me for that but I think it gives you more anger than when you speak out.

“We had a professional relationship and that is it. I decided to shut up. I’m not accusing anyone of anything or leaving bad things behind at the club,” maintained Casillas.

“At the time it was emphasised more than it should have been but Jose Mourinho’s time here was good for us. That’s what I think and I’ll always think that.

“We were equal with Barca for a while and in the first season things were good, although maybe not so good in the last, but I have the greatest respect for all my coaches.

“When something happens you should not discuss it and should respect your boss.”
