Rayo ‘tried to make it hard for Barca’

Rayo Vallecano captain Roberto Trashorras hopes the fans are proud of the team after their efforts against Barcelona.

Barca took a 2-0 win from Saturday’s game at Vallecas and Trashorras has said Rayo wanted to make the visitors earn the victory.

“We’re upset with the defeat but we gave everything and tried to make life difficult for Barca,” AS reports Trahorras saying.

“What happened is they have the best players in the world and it’s very difficult. We were very motivated and wanted to do well.

“Lionel Messi hurt us and following the red card, the match changed. But we expect business as usual in the next match.”

Trashorras also commended debutant Jozabad, who replaced him after 73 minutes.

“I’m very happy with his debut,” Trashorras added.

“I always try to do what Paco Jemez says and he wanted us to make it difficult.

“The decisions of the referee seemed a little excessive because it wasn’t a game for two red cards, but we still fought for the match.

“We pushed and we gave everything. Rayo is characterised by bravery and I think we were against Barca. Hopefully the fans are proud.”
