Jemez: Rayo gave everything

Paco Jemez had no complaints over Rayo Vallecano’s performance against Barcelona even as his side lost 2-0 at home.

Lionel Messi and Neymar scored the goals, while Rayo played the final half hour with 10 men after Jorge Morcillo was sent off, and lost Javier Aquino to a red card in injury time.

“I’m not at all disappointed,” Jemez said, AS reports.

“No one is allowed to rest here. That’s forbidden. We’re talking about competing because Barca are very good and our 10 men ran like animals.

“We have been very dynamic. When they scored the second goal it got complicated but I didn’t see that we lowered our intensity.

“I prefer to attack. You can concede six playing defensively. We look for the best possible outcome and we don’t play defensively because it can be worse.

“We were fine for half-an-hour. Beating Barca is not easy. Two years ago they got six and last year they got four.

“This time it was only two so we are improving. We wanted to score to regain our enthusiasm but we couldn’t. We gave everything to make it up to the fans.”
