Winger Gerard Deulofeu is being lined up for a shock return to Everton in the January transfer window.
The youngster is on loan at Sevilla from Barcelona on the understanding that he would be given plenty of game time to develop under Unai Emery at the Sanchez Pizjuan.
However, according to the Express, Barca boss Luis Enrique is becoming increasingly concerned as Deulofeu has featured for a total of just 17 minutes in one of Sevilla’s opening four fixtures.
It is a situation that could see the 20-year-old, who impressed in his loan spell at Goodison last term, return to Everton if the Catalans decide to terminate their season-long arrangement with Sevilla.
However, Toffees’ boss Roberto Martinez may have to trim his squad to accommodate Deulofeu as he has a surplus of creative players who can operate in his position: Steven Pienaar, Aiden McGeady, Kevin Mirallas, Christian Atsu and Bryan Oviedo.
