Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal has thanked his Spain teammates for making his ascension to the national team so comfortable.
Carvajal won his first cap for La Roja in the midweek defeat to France and could keep his place for Monday’s first Euro 2016 qualifier, against Macedonia.
“The lower levels do a lot of the work in the way of La Roja players,” Marca reports Carvajal saying at a Press conference.
“I feel very comfortable and my colleagues have treated me very well on my arrival. I am very happy.
“Macedonia is an important game as the first qualifying match. We can’t be taken by surprise.”
Carvajal also reflected on the addition of Munir El Haddadi to the squad, in place of the injured Diego Costa.
“The Under-21s is to nurture players and they always bring that winning and fighting spirit and I think he’ll do well,” Carvajal said of the teenager.
“Diego Costa is an alternative to our philosophy and he can adapt perfectly. Any team would want him. Hopefully he recovers soon.”
